Growing up in an Italian family inspired my love for food and

people, giving me insight into the Mediterranean diet and

natural remedies at an incredibly young age. The importance of the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of eating

were instilled in me from the start. Regular mealtimes (especially Sunday dinners) ensured proper nutrition, food

security, and a sense of strong family values.

My grandparents planted the seeds for my discovery and nurtured the roots of my passion for nutritional wellness. They

innately knew how to select, prepare, and repurpose foods for consumption and use foods as medicine, too. We had

limited access to processed food, shopped locally, made fresh pasta and breads, jarred our own tomatoes, and

homemade wine was a staple at mealtime. I remember picking dandelions in the fields behind our house and having a

yard full of selected herbs for either consumption or to make tinctures for healing cuts, scrapes, and bug bites.

After years of schooling and formal training, I have a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and a master’s

degree from New York University. Currently, I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with more than 30 years' expertise in

clinical nutrition and health and wellness. As an integrative and functional medicine practitioner, I continue to educate

people on the importance of dietary supplements and the science of nutrition.

optimal nutrition.

What is Optimal Nutrition?

Nutrients are compounds in food and other natural substances that are essential for life.

Examples of nutrients are protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water.  The same nutrients found in foods

can be obtained in dietary supplements in pill, capsules, tablet, powder, or liquid forms.

When our daily intake of these nutrients falls short, our bodies may become sickly and don’t perform at their best.

Dietary supplements may help boost our daily food and beverage consumption or may be used as nutraceuticals for

specific health issues.

Understanding the ways, the body obtains nutrients from food first and uses dietary supplements additionally, is

fundamental for integrating nutrition into your daily life.
